“Tab Bennett is normal — unusually, excessively normal. Her job as a bank teller is safe and secure, her grandfather finally let her move out of the house (at least to the cottage at the end of the driveway), and her fiancé fiercely guards her chastity, whether she wants him to or not.
It’s something of a shock, then, when Tab learns that she is the elvish queen of the fabled kingdom of the Inbetween. Also shocking is the appearance of the staggeringly confident and gorgeous elvish warrior who claims to be Tab’s true betrothed. Even amidst a steamy love triangle, Tab must tell friend from foe in an unknown world of danger, deceit, magic, and sex.
The first in the Underneath and Inbetween trilogy, The Uncovering sparkles with wit and unadulterated fun.”
The Uncovering is the first book in a trilogy by Jes Young. We get introduced to our main character, Tab Bennett right away. Tab is as normal as a person can get, except that for the last few months, her sistersh ave been killed, one by one. After they vanish, Tab has visions about their deaths, but never fast enough to actually save one of them. It’s on the day of her sister’s funeral, Tab finds out she’s not normal as she might have hoped. Tab is the long lost princess of the light elves. After the murder on her mother, the queen of the elves, by the dark elves, she was sent to earth along with several guardians to protect her.
Now she’s coming of age, and the dark elves have started to chase her again, trying to kill her. Tab must deal with losing hezr sisters, and discovering about a world of magic, elves and intrigue, all at once.
In the midst of all that is a love triangle. I’m not always a fan of love triangles, but this one works well. Both love interests – on the one hand, Tab’s fiance, and Alex, the man who she feels inexplicably drawn to. Tab was an intriguing character. Her struggles were interesting, and her ability to go on, no matter what happened, made her stand out from other characters. She’s surrounded by a nice cast of secondary characters, and the love interests were enjoyable as well.
All in all, a decent novel for paranormal romance fans. I thought the beginning was the best part, but the novel holds up strong until the end.
