Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison can Read. Each week, they ask bloggers a question they respond to in their Feature and Follow post.

You can follow me through email, Bloglovin’, RSS, Google+, Linky Followers and Networked Blogs. All of those options are in the sidebar.

This week’s question:

“What are some of your biggest pet peeves with books? i.e. love triangles etc.?”

Good question! One of my biggest pet peeves is missing parent syndrom. It makes sense, sometimes, but when the parents are just conveniently not around when bad stuff happens in YA books, I call that lazy writing. I also HATE insta-love. HATE, hate, hate it so much it could make me instantly stop loving the book (haha, get my pun?)

  1. Completely agree with you. These two points are so easily seen in every other book which is just too irritating.

  3. Oh, that’s a good one. I hate that too. Here’s My F&F.

  4. So true. Instalove is terrible and the same thing with missing parents. I’m surprised editors don’t raise this with authors as I read articles by editors on what to avoid if you want to be published etc. and they all these tropes you should avoid- and yet I constantly see the same irritating tropes in books! 🙂

  5. Agreed, especially on the insta-love. Insta-love just seems like lust to me.

  6. I totally agree with you about about the missing parents in YA books I wish there was more family dynamic in YA books! Thank you for stopping by and following my blog. Old Follower.
