Dearhart Clan are a series of fast paced adult books that dabble in the world of paranormal and remain in the erotic pulse of what can only be classified as a primal fantasy. If it’s a typical romance you’re looking for you won’t find it in this series.

Eri Nelson writes in a darker world where heat and need are the forefront for a slipping existence. There is not time for all the tenderness love deserves but if you’re imprinted to another you are far beyond those mortal requirements.

Our author is driven by swift action packed intrigues that often leave you wanting more. As she writes each new book into the series the number of pages might increase but the action never lets you feel the increasing distance to the final page.

Call from Within is an erotic paranormal romance story about Owen Dearhart, the leader of a dying werewolf clan. He stumbles upon Kristin, a girl who he’s certain will become a werewolf. He falls for her, and realizes right away that she’s destined to be his mate. But Kristin, still a human, is not convinced that this strange man who saved her from an attack by her ex-boyfriend is who he claims he is. And while she feels an undeniable attraction toward him, she keeps on fighting it, driving him away.

This story is fast. Usually, fast is a good thing, but here things happen so fast that it’s actually pretty distracting. Owen falls for Kristin within the first few pages. I’m not a huge fan of insta-love, but at least it got the plot along. However it’s not just the love-part that happened instantly here, it’s almost everything. The book feels rushed. Details are forgotten and overlooked, and we don’t get a lot of explanation about why certain things happen. I get this is a novella – they tend to get to the point quicker – but I was left with more questions than answers here.

The book is erotic romance, and it certainly gets that aspect right. Even if the story and plot are mediocre, the romance scenes are definitely hot and steamy. If you’re in the mood for a quick, hot read, try this one.

  1. Hi Majanka,

Thank you for your honest look in the introduction piece. As I stated when you agree to be my PR Representative, this first is an intro into the series. More is revealed as the story carries on into the next two books.

Once again I am sorry that this bit of my work was not to your liking. I wish you well on your own work as a writer as well as your PR work.

    Best Wishes

    • Hey Eri,

Please don’t think I didn’t enjoy your work. I don’t tend to give high ratings. For me, a 3-star rating is pretty high. I enjoyed reading your book. You told me it’s an intro piece, and I tried to look at it that way, but nevertheless I found it a bit rushed. I did however enjoy your writing style and the world you created. I’m confident your following books would’ve been more to my liking because they’re longer (and probably take longer to build up because of that).

But that said, I wish you all the best with your books. And I did enjoy “Call from Within”.

It’s understandable that Author Eri Nelson could come to the conclusion that you did not enjoy her work. Calling the story and plot mediocre, can have that effect. I have read all three of the DHC books written to date, and could never just slap EROTIC FICTION down as the Genera. While her work has erotic scenes, it is far from EROTICA. The work is fast paced, hard hitting and grinds its points in hard. IT is not Twilight, YA, which maybe is where it loses some people. Just a thought, if she had not just broken her ties to your services would have said this all the same? Something tells me it would have read different were she still PAYING you.

        • Hey S.I. Hayes,

Thank you for your comment on the review. First of all, I mentioned the book was erotic romance – which it is. There’s a lot of romance and erotic scenes, hence erotic romance. There’s a difference between erotic romance and erotica.

Secondly, I find it quite insulting you suggest I gave this book a 3-star rating (and since when is three stars bad?) because Eri decided to find another PR representative. I’ve been reviewing for years, and I’ve always given my honest opinion about the books I’ve read. I’ve reviewed a lot of books for tours I set up and tours other people set up, and I’ve always given my honest opinion. I invite you to browse through my reviews – you will see I rarely hand out more than a four star rating.

When I put up PR services for someone, I get their book in the hands of reviewers, set up author interviews, excerpt, etc. I don’t guarantee ‘good reviews’. I wanted to review “Call from Within” because it sounded like something I’d enjoy. I did enjoy it – but like I said, the book had its flaws, and in my review I tried – and I think I succeeded – to give a balanced opinion of the good and the bad in the book.

On top of that, this review has been scheduled two weeks in advance, so both circumstances are completely unrelated. Think of that what you wish.

          • I appreciate your very level headed replies, Manjanka. As well as your devotion to my work S.I. Hayes, I can never be more in awe of that.

My style is unorthodox to say the least. So it is not for everyone. And as you said reviews never come with any guarantee. This I am completely aware of and appreciate as well as respect a readers opinion.

Thank you both for responding and showing your passion for your personal resolves. My door or in this case email is always open for your opinions and concerns. Please never hesitate to reach out to me feedback@dearharts.com

Wishing you all the best of reading!!
            Eri Nelson 🙂
