On My Wish List

On My Wishlist is a weekly meme that runs every Saturday, and is hosted by Book Chick City. It’s where bloggers list all the books they want but haven’t bought yet. They can be old or new or forthcoming releases. I keep my list to maximum three books a week, because else you would think I’m an awfully greedy, materialistic person.

Title: Catching Fire (Hunger Games Series #2)
Author: Suzanne Collins
Genre: Adventure, Romance, Young Adult

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

I bought the first book in the Hunger Games series yesterday, and finished it in one two-hour reading cycle, when I was on the train back home. I absolutely and completely fell in love with the novel, and although I had already heard a lot about it, my own reading experience beat everything. Original, thrilling, intense, loveable characters, and a government that’s even more wicked and corrupt than the one in V for Vendetta. Loved it to pieces. Expect a review soon after I…reread it! Hah, I can’t wait for the next part. As soon as I find it in book stores, Catching Fire is MINE.

Title: Fallen
Author: Lauren Kate
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal Romance

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

When I was wondering through the bookstore, I came across this novel too and although I wanted it desperately, the insane price reduction on The Hunger Games (from 20 to 10 euros) made me choose the latter. This one was still quite expensive, and with the giant book fair coming up soon I want to save my cash. But I wanted it so badly. I heard so many good things about Lauren Kate’s writing, this novel and the next in the series. WANT.

Title: Unearthly
Author: Cynthia Hand
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal Romance

In the beginning, there’s a boy standing in the trees. . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she’s part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what it is, though, isn’t easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place–and out of place, at the same time. Because there’s another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara’s less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she’d have to make–between honesty and deciet, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
