Release Blitz A Girl Like Her

Teasers

Ruth entered the town car park with a lot on her mind. Major highlights included:

  1. Her stomach cramps, which had gone from mild irritation to knuckle-biting pain in the space of twenty minutes.
  2. The indignity of waddling about town with loo roll stuffed down her knickers.
  3. The absolutely extortionate price she’d just paid for a packet of substandard tampons that didn’t even have bloody applicators.
  4. Mrs. Needham, newsagent proprietor and town gossip, who would tell everyone that Ruth had come in to buy tampons as if they were Year Eight children instead of grown adults.
  5. How much the average person might know about the theory of relativity. Because, the less people knew about it, the more she could get away with fudging the details for the latest issue of her web comic.

Was it really surprising, with all that to ponder, that she ran headlong into a pair of enormous men?

Ruth landed on the tarmac with an unladylike grunt. At least it was more elegant than the word currently burning through her mind: Motherfucker!

This was to be imagined, you understand, as an outraged yowl of pain.

For an instant of blissful, foolish shock, Ruth blinked down at the ground. Then she looked up slightly, just a touch—enough to see two pairs of sturdy, boot-clad feet before her. The sight of those feet, along with her embarrassment, took Ruth from mildly irritated to unreasonably angry.

But really. Those boots were entirely too solid, quite abominably stable. The men hadn’t even wobbled. They might at least pretend to be slightly unbalanced, since she was literally on the floor. Such firm uprightness in a situation like this struck her as rude.

“I’m so sorry,” one of the men said. She didn’t know which, because she refused to look up at their faces. She had quite enough to process right now without bringing faces and expressions and human lifeforms into it.

But one of the men, presumably the one who had spoken, ruined things completely by bending down to her level. He could do that, you see, because he hadn’t fallen. The prick.

He crouched before her, bringing his faded jeans into view, and then his tight, black T-shirt—what a ridiculous outfit in February—and then… well, some rather interesting musculature.

That musculature broke through Ruth’s haze of unreasonable annoyance, prodding her sharply. It said, Look at that chest! Look at those biceps! You’d better check out his face, just to see if it’s equally impressive. Quality control, and all that.

Reigning in the urge to throw a temper tantrum—she was feeling fragile, what with the tissue in her knickers—Ruth looked up.

About the Book

Everyone has secrets. He wants all of hers.

Meet the man next door…

After years of military service, Evan Miller wants a quiet life. The small town of Ravenswood seems perfect—until he stumbles upon a vicious web of lies with his new neighbour at its centre.

Ruth Kabbah is rude, awkward, and—according to everyone in town—bad news. Thing is, no-one will tell Evan why. Does she perform ritual sacrifices? Howl at the moon? Pour the milk before the tea? He has no clue.

But he desperately wants to find out. Because Ruth doesn’t seem evil to him; she seems lonely. And funny, and clumsy, and secretly quite sweet, and really f*%king beautiful…

The more Evan’s isolated, eccentric neighbour pushes him away, the more he wants her. Her—and all her secrets. Because there’s no way a girl like Ruth truly deserves the town’s scorn.

…Is there?

A Girl Like Her is a steamy, small town BWWM romance. Warning: this book is 65,000+ words of extreme pleasure and intense romance, ending in a HEA. There are NO cliffhangers and NO cheating. Enjoy responsibly!

About the Book

Title: Midlight

Author: Autumn Grace

Genre: YA Scifi

If the daylight doesn’t kill you, the diurnal ones will. But when death is the one requirement to be transitioned into a mechanized Hybrid, why spend another night lost in the dark?

Deadly radiation has forced the population to become nocturnal in an effort to avoid the mutilating effects of daylight. While this helped for a time, rogue groups began neglecting these practices, increasing the death rate and the need to finalize a procedure to bring the dead back to life. This controversial advancement became means for prosperity to President Umber as he took over the growing city of Umber Heights.

Five years ago, Bain woke up on the side of the road with no prior memories. After three years of serving as a brutal Corsair for Ailand’s ruthless leader, Beckett, Bain cuts ties with his current life. He must revisit his estranged friend in his safe coastal town with the proposal to join him in Umber Heights, the only place Beckett and Umber’s feud prohibits Beckett from entering. Bain and Argon struggle to get their relationship back, cautiously diving deeper into their romantic feelings while trying to balance conflicting personalities and Bain’s lack of readiness to open up.

Now in Heights seemingly for good, Bain must determine if the lines of right and wrong really do gray when it comes to protecting human life over man-made creation.

Author Interview End as Assassin

 Lex Lander_Banner1Author Interview

1) How long have you been writing?

Over twenty years, but only 5 years seriously, and 2 years since publication.

2) What is your favorite genre to write?

Crime thrillers, though I have dabbled in romantic thrillers and occult thrillers, but not for publication.

3) Which genre have you never tried before, but would you like to try out?

Romance, because it is the most popular genre.  I’m just not sure I’m capable of it.  Moreover, I like my stories to have dark side, and not necessarily a happy ending which I don’t believe suits the romance market.

4) Please tell us about your book.

End as an Assassin is about André Warner, a hit man who, at the start of the story, goes into retirement. He then finds he is at a loose end and his life has lost purpose and meaning. He becomes something of a lotus eater, drink, drugs, loose women, etc. then his violent past returns to bite him and he finds himself under surveillance by persons unknown. About that time he meets a woman, divorced, defensive, suspicious of men, and they fall in love. She gets dragged into whatever is going on with him, and ultimately they both come face to face with death. Warner solves the problem the only way he knows how – at the point of a gun.

5) Which character was your favorite, and why? Which character was your least favorite, and why?

Favorite character is the narrator / protagonist, because there is in him some of the standards and beliefs that I subscribe to. Least favorite character was … actually, I can’t think of a least favorite, unless it’s Kessler, the go-between for the Tillou mob, possibly because I made him rather unappealing physically.

6) What was the hardest part about writing your book?

Hardest part to write was the scene where Warner accidentally shoots his lady love. Setting his emotions down in writing was a major challenge.

7) What is your writing routine? Are there things you absolutely need to start writing?

My routine is 3 hours every morning, Monday to Saturday inclusive. Sometimes I re-read the mornings outpourings in the evening. I need no incentive to get started. When I am working on a book it is part of my daily routine, like going to a regular job. I never suffer from writer’s block.

8) How long did it take you to write your book from start to finish?

First draft took about 10 weeks. Then I took a month’s break and did a first edit. Then another break before the second and final edit, and even then it’s not all over. Also, my publishers carry out their own edit.

9) Is this book part of a series? If so, how many installments do you have planned?

The book is part of a series, with Volume II being launched on the same date. Vol III is written, Vol IV is 75% written, Vol V is at the planning stage. If the books prove popular I will not set a limit on the number I  will write in the series, though I think it would be at least 10.

10) Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

My advice to aspiring authors would be to have faith in yourself, and to persist and persevere in your quest for publication. Alternatively, find another pursuit!

11) Why should everyone read your book?

Not everyone will read my book, only those who have a taste for crime thrillers. Among that clique the ones who seek credible character, with flaws, emotions, and weaknesses will be drawn to my books.

12) If you could meet three authors, dead or alive, which authors would you choose?

R M Ballantyne, Ernest Hemingway, James Hadley Chase.

13) What inspired you to write your book?

Inspire is not the right word for me. I have a compulsion to write, ergo I must write.  Wrongdoings and wrongdoers are more interesting, I feel, than good gays/gals, so, to feed the compulsion I write about subjects and people that interest me most – hence crime thrillers.

14) Are you working on something at the moment? If so, can you tell us more about it?

I am working on another book in the Warner series entitled She Kills. This would be Volume IV, except that I may insert another story, provisionally entitled Cold Pursuit, which would then become Volume IV. If this  latter title does becomes the next in line, I can only tell you that a lot of the action will take place in the UK for the first time, with about the last third shifting to Finland and Russia/St Petersburg.

THIS TIME IT’S NOT FOR MONEY.
THIS TIME IT’S FOR BLOOD, PURE AND SIMPLE.
André Warner is a professional killer, ex-British Secret Service. Thirty-nine contracts have made him a wealthy man, and his fortieth is to be his last.
The hit goes smoothly enough, and the victim – a degenerate drug baron – is dispatched with minimal fuss and no traces left to incriminate Warner. He drives off into the sunrise to hang up his gun and retire to his home in Geneva.
Then into his life comes Gina, a hauntingly beautiful divorcee, fugitive from a bad marriage. The timing is perfect, coinciding as it does with Warner’s new beginning. They soon become lovers, and all seems set fair for a life together.
Their idyll is shattered when a former associate turns against Warner, and he faces exposure and arrest. Accompanied by Gina, he flees his Geneva home, only to run from the clutches of the Swiss police into the far deadlier embrace of a Marseilles crime syndicate whose boss has a score to settle on behalf of Warner’s last victim. Suddenly Gina is at risk through her association with him, and in trying to protect her he only makes matters worse.
His retirement plans in shreds, his life on the line, Warner is forced to stage a comeback. Only this time it’s not for money. It’s for blood, pure and simple.

Author Bio

I love to write. I love to put characters in situations that seems impossible to get out of. Almost. Then, out of the blue, along comes that sexy, breathtakingly, handsome hero who can and will save the day. Sometimes, (I like this part), it’s the heroine who steps up and saves the day. I love to write. Did I mention that? Anyway, I love mystery, suspense and the forever kind of love. When someone asks me, “what do you write?” I can’t say romance. It’s not that simple. I want action, adventure, suspense with caring, loving, sexy, characters that seem to find trouble wherever they go.
I am married to my real life sexy hero who finds my imagination intriguing, but refuses to read my books. Thank God. Our, live-at-home children greet us at the door with tongues hanging and tails wagging. They travel with us when we vacation and get depressed when we have to leave them. We have four grown children who live close enough for us to see often.
