A race against time, to save the world.

Derek Massey is the enigmatic head of the time travel agency The Lineage.  He makes the difficult choices, ones that have isolated him from everyone. Sarah James is an experienced Lineage agent, the one others look to for help. She hides her secrets and past well. Only one man has ever caused her to lose her temper.

But when the timeline is betrayed, Sarah will have to work with Derek to solve the biggest anomaly of all, one that threatens to destroy not just the Lineage, but the world itself.  Their journey will take them to the last days of Pompeii and to Renaissance Italy, to a familiar traitor and a pocket watch that could be the key to everything. Sarah and Derek also discover each other’s vulnerabilities, behind the confident agent and the inscrutable leader. Danger ignites the passion between them.

When the truth is finally revealed, both Sarah and Derek’s secrets, about their past, their families and their own feelings will come to light.  Each has to make a terrible decision.  Can a new love stand against years of duty?  Or will one of them choose the ultimate sacrifice?   Only time will tell.

What I particularly enjoyed about Time on her Hands was the time travel agency, The Lineage, and how it’s involved with everything. Derek Massey is the head of The Lineage, but having to make the tough choices has isolated him from everyone. Sarah James is an experienced Lineage agent, but quite secretive.

When the timeline is betrayed, Sarah and Derek have to solve an anomaly that threatens to destroy the world. As they fight to save the world, Sarah and Derek grow closer together, but when they’re forced to make a terrible decision, they’ll have to decide between love and duty.

I really liked Sarah. Although she hid a lot of secrets from Derek, especially at first, I felt like it was easier to connect with her than Derek. She was capable, intelligent, independent and knew how to handle tough situations. Derek did too, so they were actually quite similar. After a while, when you got ot know their vulnerabilities, they become more and more interesting, kind of like friends you’re just getting to know.

The writing was good, and I really loved the plot. It was fast-paced, and once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down.

Katriona Hughes has no idea how she’s managed to find herself in 16th century Scotland, but she’s beginning to think the gigantic emerald gem she picked up on an archeological site may have had something to do with it.  Wanting nothing more than to return to her own time, Kat is betrayed by the first person she meets and forced into a marriage with a loathsome stranger. Now running for her life, Kat meets the one man who deserves her trust, but can she give it to him.

Nick Mackall is happy to finally be back in his beloved Scotland after accidentally being transported to twenty first century San Francisco and spending the last two years of his life there.  His home and family are calling to him, but things are not about to go smoothly for the handsome highlander as he meets a young woman fleeing her husband and an old foe returns from the dead.  Two things are certain – he must gain the woman’s trust in order to save her and he must stop his foe from unleashing the power of an imprisoned sorcerer.

In Her Trusted Highlander, Katriona Hughes stumbles into 16th century Scotland after picking up an emerald gem on an archeological site. Although she wants nothing more than to return to the present time, she rapidly gets stuck in the past – the first person she meets tricks her and forces her into marriage with a stranger. Kat has to run for her life, and in doing so, meets one man she can trust: Nick Mackall.

Nick is happy to be back in Scotland after being transported to the twnety-first century and spending two years there. He longs to go home to his family but when he meets a young woman who came from the era he just escaped from, he decides to help her. In doing so, he’ll need to face an old foe who has returned from the dead.

I liked the double time travel – with Nick travelling from the present to the past but originally being from the past, and Katriona travelling from the present to the past and originally being from the present. It was a cool addition (usually there’s only one person doing the time travelling!). This made it easier for Nick to relate to Katriona and visa versa. The key focus on trust was great too, and Nick really showed that Kat could trust him.

The book isn’t just historical – it also has an element of the paranormal, and I really enjoyed that. As usual, Jennae Vale succeeds in bringing realistic characters and describing the setting so wonderfully the reader can just imagine being there. Recommended to anyone who enjoys historical romance with some magic and/or time travel.

Author: Stewart Bint

Genre: Time Travel

By the twenty-seventh century, mankind has finally mastered time travel—and is driving recklessly towards wiping itself out. The guerilla environmentalist group WorldSave, with its chief operative Ashday’s Child, uses the Timeshaft to correct mistakes of the past in an effort to extend the life of the planet.

But the enigmatic Ashday’s Child has his own destiny to accomplish, and will do whatever it takes within a complicated web of paradoxes to do so. While his destiny—and very existence—is challenged from the beginning to the end of time, he must collect the key players through the ages to create the very Timeshaft itself.

“Do our actions as time travellers change what would otherwise have happened, or is everything already laid down in a predetermined plan?” he asks. Stewart Bint’s Timeshaft is an expertly synchronized saga of time travel, the irresistible force of destiny, and the responsibility of mankind as rulers of the world.

In 1692, Isabeau Munier cast a spell to flee Lobster Cove and escape burning at the stake for witchcraft. Instead, she’s trapped by a curse that tosses her through time whenever she attempts to leave the small town.
With her curiosity shop and Great Dane familiar, Isabeau has finally found her place in time. When her landlord’s sexy nephew moves in, she thinks she may have found Mr. Right as well.
Grayson Wright’s intrigued by the beautiful Isabeau, but a friend’s accusations make him worry Isabeau took advantage of his beloved uncle. Gray’s determined to learn the truth, even at the risk of losing his heart.
Can Isabeau prove she’s not the gold-digger Gray fears and that her love for him is true? Can Gray learn to trust his heart, which tells him Isabeau’s the perfect woman for him? Or will Isabeau’s curse take the chance away from them both?

In Echoes of the Past, Isabeau Munier cast a spell to flee her hometown, and escape burning at the stake back in 1692. The spell backfired though, and now she’s trapped by a curse. Whenever she wants to leave the town, the curse tosses her through time. Now, having opened a curiosity shop, she’s finally found her place in time. And with her landlord’s sexy nephew, Grayson Wright, moving in, she suspects she might have found her love as well.

Gray is interested in Isabeau too, but he worries she might be a gold-digger.The two of them will have to set aside their differences and the assumptions others make about them if they want their relationship to work.

The best part of the book was the concept of Isabeau’s spell/curse keeping her locked in town, and forcing her to travel through time when she tries to leave town. It’s one of the most original ideas I’ve read about in a long while. The romance was okay. I liked both characters as individuals, so I didn’t mind when they started a relationship. The writing is decent too, and it’s an enjoyable, fast-paced read.

Rebecca dreams her present time and lives her past.

It is 2006 and Indiana University graduate student Rebecca Harrison attends a Halloween party. Unknown to her she will have her world turned upside down when she leaves it. An unexpected accident rips her from 2006 Indiana and abandons her in 1983 Fanwood, New Jersey her hometown. She struggles to relive the past and exist as another woman with the same name and birthday as her. Can she find a way to return to her present time or will her past become her future?

In Between Two Worlds, after attending a Halloween party, a fall down the stairs rips Rebecca’s world apart. She’s no longer at university in Indiana in 2006, but instead she’s stuck in her hometown in Fanwood, New Jersey, in 1983. The story starts with a bang, and Rebecca figures out she’s gone back in time on the very first page.

She revisits her childhood home, where she finds out more about mystery Rebecca, a woman with the same name and birthday as her but who is older than her brother (whereas Rebecca’s brother is older than her) and who works as a secretary for a non-profit organization. Taking over the life of this mystery Rebecca isn’t easy, and her dreams transport Rebecca back to 2006.

Will back have to adapt to life in the 1980s or will she find a way back to 2006?

The story is interesting and fast-paced. At 50 pages it’s more of a novella, and I finished it in about an hour. The concept is interesting, and I enjoyed reading about Rebecca’s struggles and seeing her grow stronger as a character. An interesting novella about family and travelling back in time.

Grungy design with mysterious time machines and clock composition in warm toneTitle: Amber Gifts

Author: Kevin B. Henry

Genre: Fantasy / Science Fiction / Time Travel

Amber Gifts, begins with the introduction of Mitchell, a man who never expected to become a time traveler. He never believed such a thing was possible. After a decades long downward spiral, Mitchell was at the bottom of life’s rungs. Until the stranger handed him a simple, amber vial he expected life to only get worse.

The Man told him to drink it. He did and Mitchell’s life changed drastically, but was it a change for the better? Now he was a time traveler and when asked to help some fresh acquaintances, he gladly agrees. A simple request to just find some items they had left scattered throughout time. How hard could it be?

All they wanted were the artifacts returned to them, but someone wants to stop him. It will take more than luck for Mitchell to find all the items and survive to complete his mission.

It seemed there was no length his adversary would go to bring Mitchell’s travels and his life to an abrupt end.

A scavenger hunt through time turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Author Bio

MeAsWriterFrom an early age, Kevin B. Henry was a voracious reader. His collection of science fiction, fantasy and mystery books bring tears of envy to the eyes of many small community libraries.

Kevin has worked as an educator, technology specialist and day laborer most of his adult life. During all that time he lived the life of a frustrated author. That it took 30 years for him to piece together Amber Gifts is a testament that the best meals need slow cooking to bring out the flavor.

The Amber Gifts Series begins with Amber Gifts. The second story, which is really the first, is Amber Prelude, scheduled to be published in June, 2015. The third story, Amber Legacy continues where Amber Gifts left off. It will be available in November 2015. All are published by the wonderful folks at the Champagne Book Group. A fourth story is in the process of being written.

Kevin is a natural story teller, so it’s logical that he lectures occasionally. Topics range from the implementation of cutting edge technology hardware to the creation, modification and use of e-books within education. He constantly pursues research to expand his range of possible topics. His most recent research revolved around the aerodynamic properties of reindeer. He’s also been known to include little known facts and trivia within his presentations. Did you know just 146 years ago today the Union Army marched into Atlanta. It took longer than anticipated. They were delayed by a traffic jam on I-75 and the toll booth on Ga. 400

He continues to live in the Mid-West without human or domesticated mammal companionship.
