Bishop counted at least 25 marks on Roland’s body. While Bowdern said a claming prayer, the boy struggled, punching his pillow and the headboard. He woke when Bowden sprinkled holy water on him and said that he had been dreaming he fought a great slimy red devil, but that he felt so strong he might defeat it.
